Midland Bank Signs Participation Agreement with Bangladesh Bank under BDT 10,000 Crore Refinance Scheme

Midland Bank PLC. (MDB) has signed a Participation Agreement with Bangladesh Bank under the BDT 10,000 Crore Refinance Scheme aimed at increasing agricultural production and generating employment through economic activities in the agricultural and rural sectors.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at Bangladesh Bank, Head Office, Dhaka, on August 16, 2026.

Md. Ahsan Jamil Hossain, SVP & Head of SME Banking Division, Midland Bank PLC., and A K M Sayeduzzaman, Director, Agricultural Credit Department-2, Bangladesh Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

The BDT 10,000 Crore revolving refinance scheme has been introduced to facilitate increased agricultural production and employment generation through financing in the agricultural and rural sectors. The scheme covers eligible financing for crop cultivation, fisheries, livestock, agricultural machinery and equipment, and other income-generating activities in the agricultural and rural sectors.

Under the scheme, eligible farmers, entrepreneurs and customers engaged in agricultural and rural economic activities will have access to financing facilities in accordance with Bangladesh Bank’s applicable guidelines. The scheme also provides financing opportunities for small and marginal farmers and other eligible borrowers, contributing to increased agricultural production, employment generation and economic activities in rural areas.

Through its participation in the scheme, Midland Bank PLC. will further strengthen its financing support for the agricultural and rural sectors and contribute to food security, employment generation, financial inclusion and sustainable economic development across the country.
