The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, with a welcome address delivered by Professor Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer & Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC).
Mr. Rup Ratan Pine, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Md. Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director & CEO of Midland Bank PLC., graced the occasion as the Special Guest.
The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Md. Taufiqul Islam, Director of CPC, and was attended by distinguished faculty members and large number of NSU students.
Mr. Md. Rashed Akter, Head of the Retail Distribution Division, Financial Literacy Wing and Chief Bancassurance Officer (CBO) and Mr. Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, Manager, Financial Literacy Wing, Retail Distribution Division along with other officials from both organizations were also present in the session.
The seminar focused on enhancing awareness of financial literacy among students and future professionals, making them aware about financial inclusiveness, sustainable economic development, access to finance and equipping them with essential knowledge to make informed financial decisions. This initiative reflects Midland Bank’s continued commitment to empowering the younger generation through financial education and inclusion. The Bank also set up a booth in the NSU campus on 22-24, September 2025 to create awareness about banking products and services among the students and teachers of the University.
