Midland Bank and Desh General Insurance jointly organize the Formal Ceremony of Bancassurance Partnership Program.

In order to expand the scope of customer service in the country’s financial sector, an agreement was signed on October 3, 2025, to launch this service in a joint initiative of the Bangladesh Bank and the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh (IDRA).

Recently, a program titled ” Formal Ceremony of Bancassurance Partnership ” was organized at the head office of Midland Bank (N.B. Tower (Level 6-9), 40/7 North Avenue, Gulshan-2, Dhaka-1212) in the capital in the presence of Mr. Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director & CEO of Midland Bank and Ms. Mohammodi Khanam, Chief Executive Officer of Desh General Insurance Company, along with senior officials of both Partners.

Also present at the event were Mr. Md. Zahid Hossain- Deputy Managing Director & CRO, Mr. Md. Nazmul Huda Sarkar- Deputy Managing Director & CTO, Mr. Md. Rashed Akter- Head of Retail Distribution Division & Chief Bancassurance Officer, Mr. Mohammed Rashadul Anwar- Head of Public Relations Division, Mr. Khondoker Imran Hossain- Manager of Bancassurance, Project, Process & Product Development, Mr. Shah Mohammad Ferdaus- Manager, Public Relations Division, Mr. Md. Sahabuddin- Bancassurance Officer, Mr. Md. Mehedi Rahman Fahim- Bancassurance Officer, and Mr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Head of Department – Human Resources and Administration and Mr. Md. Mokaddesur Rahman Sikder, Company Secretary of Desh General Insurance Company Limited.

It is to be noted that through the Bancassurance service, insurance related customers can now easily avail various insurance products and services under the Bancassurance of Desh General Insurance from any branch of Midland Bank PLC.

Under the Bancassurance service, insurance products approved by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority such as; Car Insurance, Travel Insurance, Health Insurance, Agricultural Insurance and Crop Insurance are covered. At present, only motor insurance has been introduced, other insurance facilities will also be introduced gradually. Such insurance facilities will be made easily available to customers. As a result, customers will get the opportunity to get banking and insurance services on the same platform, which will play an important role in ensuring their financial security and safety.

In conversation at the event said that such a partnership will be helpful in increasing the financial inclusion of the country and will ensure modern and integrated financial services for customers.

It is worth noting that such services are gradually increasing through a joint initiative of Bangladesh Bank and the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority, through which customers can avail insurance benefits directly through the bank. As a result, confidence among customers in getting insurance and collecting claims will increase.
