Midland Bank Organizes Daylong Training Program on Anti-Money Laundering & Counter Financing of Terrorism

Midland Bank PLC. (MDB) successfully organized a daylong training program titled “Anti-Money Laundering & Counter Financing of Terrorism” on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the MDB Training Institute in Banani, Dhaka.

The training program was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) requirements and practices. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including an overview of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, Predicate Offences, Customer Onboarding, Sanction Screening, Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), KYC, Account Opening and Documentation, e-KYC, Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML), and emerging threats and recent typologies related to Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

Special emphasis was also placed on Transaction Monitoring, STR/CTR Reporting, Self-Assessment, Independent Testing Procedures (ITP), and Credit-Backed Money Laundering.

The sessions were conducted by Mr. Fazal Abdullah, DCAMLCO, VP & Head of AML Division; Mr. Rafikul Hasan, SAVP, Trade Finance Operations Division; Ms. Rubina Akther, AVP & Acting Head of Operations Division; and Mr. Md. Ashadul Islam, JAVP, AML Division of Midland Bank PLC.

A total of 60 officials from different branches of the Bank participated in the training program.

Through this initiative, Midland Bank PLC. reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening the professional knowledge and competencies of its officials and enhancing awareness and preparedness in preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.
