Midland Bank PLC. Organizes Training on “Sustainable Finance, Climate Risk Management, and Related Financial Disclosure”

Midland Bank PLC. (MDB) successfully organized a comprehensive training session titled “Sustainable Finance, Climate Risk Management, and Related Financial Disclosure” on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Midland Bank Training Centre.

The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and capacity of the Bank’s senior management and key officials regarding sustainable finance, climate risk management, and regulatory requirements for financial disclosure, in line with Bangladesh Bank guidelines.

Mr. Chawdhury Liakat Ali, Director of the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, attended the program as the Chief Guest. Mr. Imtiaz U. Ahmed, Managing Director & CEO of Midland Bank PLC., and Mr. Md. Zahid Hossain, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Mr. Md. Nazmul Huda Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Technology Officer (CTO), were also present at the training session.

Division Heads from various Head Office divisions attended the program in person at the Midland Bank Training Centre, while officials from branches across the country participated virtually via the Zoom platform.

The day-long training session focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of sustainable finance, climate risk management, Bangladesh Bank’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, green refinancing schemes, and related financial disclosure requirements. The program emphasized the importance of integrating environmental, social, and climate-related risks into the Bank’s credit assessment and lending processes.

Through this initiative, Midland Bank PLC. reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable banking practices, strengthening climate resilience, and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
