Midland Bank Family provided financial assistance of Tk. 15.00 lac to the family of late Abul Kalam, who passed away in the recent metro rail tragedy in Farmgate area, Dhaka on 27.10.2025. The Bank provided Tk. 5.00 lac financial assistance from its Islami Banking Fund under its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activity, as part of the Bank’s commitment towards social wellbeing. Remaining Tk. 10.00 lac was contributed by Midland Bank Family Members. Md. Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director & CEO of the Bank handed over documents to Mrs. Irin Akter Priya, wife of Late Abul Kalam at a simple ceremony held on 6th November 2025 at Bank’s Head Office, Dhaka.
Didarul Islam, Chief Financial Officer, Syed Sakibuzzaman, Head of Islami Banking Division of Midland Bank were also present on the occasion.
From the fund, Midland Bank Family, arranged two MDB Saalam Family Support custodial account, each of Tk. 7,50,000.00 only favouring the minor son and daughter of late Abul Kalam “ABDULLAH ABRAR” AND “PARISA MARIAM SURA” respectively, to carry on their day to day expanses of life.
