Bancassurance is a new horizon of mutual cooperation and innovation between the insurance and banking sectors. A new chapter in this innovative collaboration has begun with the launching of Insurance business between Midland Bank PLC. and Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC.

On Monday, 11 August 2025, Midland Bank formally commenced the distribution of Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC’s policies across all its branches. The first Shariah-compliant insurance service under this partnership was provided to a customer at the Bank’s Banani Branch.

From now on, valued customers of Midland Bank will be able to access Islamic Life Insurance services (Bancatakaful) through any of the Bank’s branches, facilitated by the Shariah-based operations of Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Md. Rashed Akhtar, Head of Retail Distribution Division & Chief Bancassurance Officer, Midland Bank PLC., and Mr. Mohammad Masuduzzaman Khan, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Corporate Business Officer, Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC. Other representatives from Midland Bank included Mr. Mostafa Mainul Hasan, Head of Banani Branch & Area Head 1; Mr. Omar Sharif, Head of Digital Financial Services Department; Mr. Syed Saquibuzzaman, Head of Islamic Banking Department; Mr. Md. Ashraful Islam, Head of Retail Sales Department; and Mr. Khondoker Imran Hossain,Manager of Project, Process, Product Development and Bancassurance Department, and Mr. Md. Kamruzzaman,AVP, Bancassurance Division; Mr. Md. Aminul Haque, Business Development Manager; Mr. Md. Arif Hossain; and Mr. Md. Tariquzzaman from Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC, were also present.
